Waste That Cannot Go in Our Skip Bins
Prohibited Waste
Some materials are prohibited from all standard skip bin loads because they require different handling or disposal arrangements. Check uncertain items before loading the bin.
Asbestos and Hazardous Waste
Asbestos and hazardous waste must not be placed in any skip bin. Do not disturb or load suspected asbestos material without obtaining appropriate specialist advice.
Paint, Chemicals and Batteries
Paint, chemicals and batteries are not accepted. This includes containers that still hold liquid, chemical residue or other potentially hazardous contents.
Liquids and Oil
Liquids and oil must not be poured or placed into the bin. Containers that may leak should be kept out of the load until an appropriate disposal option has been confirmed.
Food Waste
Food waste is not accepted in any of the available waste categories. Skip bins are intended for the approved household, garden, construction, soil or masonry materials selected during booking.
General E-Waste and Computer Monitors
General e-waste and computer monitors are prohibited. Televisions are the only confirmed electrical exception and must be declared as paid special items before booking.
Undeclared Special Items
Gas bottles, mattresses, televisions and tyres must not be added without declaration. They are accepted only when entered at the correct quantity and charged individually.
Category Restrictions Still Apply
An item may be accepted in one waste category but prohibited in another. For example, building materials do not belong in General Waste, while household rubbish does not belong in a clean soil or masonry load.
Do Not Hide Restricted Materials
Covering prohibited or incorrect waste with other materials does not make it acceptable. The complete load must match the selected category and remain available for safe inspection and collection.
Possible Collection Problems
Prohibited waste, contamination or an incorrect waste category may result in additional charges, removal requirements or collection delays. No fixed charge applies to every situation.
Check Before You Load
