Loading and Weight Rules
A skip bin must be loaded within its physical and operational limits. Correct loading helps keep the bin safe to lift, transport and collect.
Keep All Waste Below the Rim
Waste must not be loaded above the top edge of the bin. The rim is the maximum fill line, even when more material could be balanced or stacked on top.
Do Not Leave Materials Protruding
Branches, timber and other long materials must fit safely inside the bin. Nothing should extend dangerously from the top or sides of the load.
Follow the Weight Limit for Your Bin
General Waste and Mixed Heavy Waste bins have confirmed weight limits based on the selected bin size. Check the applicable limit on the Bin Sizes and Pricing page before loading dense or heavy materials.
No Weight Limit Does Not Mean Unlimited Loading
Clean Soil and Dirt and Concrete, Bricks and Tiles do not have a confirmed category weight limit. These bins must still be loaded below the rim, contain only the correct materials and remain safe for the truck to lift.
Green Waste Loads
A separate Green Waste weight limit has not been confirmed. Contact the business before loading when you are uncertain about the weight or density of the material.
Use the Correct Waste Category
Weight is only one loading requirement. The bin must also contain materials accepted in the selected category. A load can be within its weight limit and still be unsuitable because of contamination.
Avoid Concentrated Unsafe Loads
Load the bin in a stable and controlled way. Do not create an uneven pile, balance materials above the rim or leave items in a position that could move during transport.
Overweight Bins May Not Be Collected
An overweight bin may be too heavy for the truck to lift safely. Material may need to be removed or the load adjusted before collection can proceed.
Prepare for Collection
Stop adding waste once the bin reaches its safe limit. Keep the collection area clear and make sure the truck can access the bin on the arranged pickup date.
Ask Before Loading Heavy Materials
