Frequently Asked Questions
What bin sizes can I hire?
We currently offer 2m³, 3m³, 4m³ and 6m³ skip bins. Our 4m³ and 6m³ bins are popular choices, although the most suitable size will depend on your waste type, available placement space and expected volume. Soil and Dirt bins and Concrete, Brick and Tile bins are currently available in 2m³, 3m³ and 4m³ sizes only. A 9m³ bin is not currently available for booking.
How long can I keep the bin?
Our standard skip bin price includes five days of hire. Additional hire is available for $10 per day after the initial five-day period. Please tell us your preferred delivery and pickup dates when booking so we can confirm the arrangements and current availability.
Where do you deliver skip bins?
We are based in Andrews Farm and deliver skip bins throughout our listed Adelaide metropolitan and selected outer-northern service areas. Our coverage includes many suburbs across Adelaide, but we do not claim to service every suburb in South Australia. Please provide your delivery suburb and postcode so we can confirm that your address is within our current delivery area.
Can I place it on my driveway?
We can usually place a skip bin on private property or a driveway when our truck can safely access, position and collect it. The placement area must be clear, stable and suitable for the bin and delivery vehicle. Please tell us about narrow access, steep driveways, low trees, overhead powerlines, tight gates, soft ground, parked vehicles or limited turning space before delivery.
What waste can I put inside?
What you can place in the bin depends on the waste category selected during booking. General Waste is intended for suitable household and office clean-up materials, Mixed Heavy Waste can accept approved household and construction materials, Green Garden Waste is for clean organic garden materials, Soil and Dirt bins must contain clean soil or dirt only, and Concrete, Brick and Tile bins must contain only those approved masonry materials. We can help you identify the correct category before you book.
What items are never allowed inside?
Our standard skip bins do not accept asbestos, hazardous waste, paint, chemicals, batteries, liquids, oil, food waste, general e-waste or computer monitors. Other restrictions apply to individual waste categories, so an item accepted in one category may be prohibited in another. Televisions are a specific paid exception when declared before booking, but this does not mean that general e-waste is accepted.
Can I add mattresses, tyres, or televisions?
We accept certain special items when they are declared before booking and added to your total. Mattresses cost $75 each, tyres cost $25 each, televisions cost $25 each and gas bottles cost $30 each. Every item must be entered at the correct quantity and paid for individually because these charges are not included in the standard bin price.
How much does skip bin hire cost in Adelaide?
Our prices vary by bin size and waste category. For a 2m³ bin, current prices are $250 for General Waste, $300 for Mixed Heavy Waste, $250 for Concrete, Bricks and Tiles, $260 for Soil and Dirt, and $230 for Green Waste. For a 3m³ bin, prices are $330 for General Waste, $380 for Mixed Heavy Waste, $350 for Concrete, Bricks and Tiles, $300 for Soil and Dirt, and $350 for Green Waste. For a 4m³ bin, prices are $430 for General Waste, $495 for Mixed Heavy Waste, $450 for Concrete, Bricks and Tiles, $360 for Soil and Dirt, and $390 for Green Waste. A 6m³ bin costs $520 for General Waste, $630 for Mixed Heavy Waste or $490 for Green Waste. Six-cubic-metre Soil and Dirt and Concrete, Brick and Tile bins are not currently offered. These base prices include GST, delivery, pickup and five days of hire.
Is GST included in my quoted price?
Yes. Our confirmed skip bin prices are GST-inclusive, so the advertised base price already includes GST. Your booking total may increase if you request additional hire days or declare chargeable special items such as mattresses, tyres, televisions or gas bottles.
What is the difference between General Waste and Mixed Heavy Waste?
General Waste is designed for lighter household, office and domestic clean-up materials such as furniture, suitable appliances, scrap metal, untreated timber and compliant garden waste. It cannot contain building waste, construction materials, soil, concrete, bricks or tiles. Mixed Heavy Waste can accept approved household waste together with construction waste, timber, metal, concrete, bricks and tiles, but it still cannot contain soil, dirt, sand, clay, hazardous materials or other prohibited waste.
Which bin should I use for a household clean-up?
A General Waste bin is often suitable for household clean-ups containing items such as furniture, light domestic rubbish, office furniture, scrap metal, untreated timber and approved appliances. However, General Waste cannot contain building materials, soil, concrete, bricks or tiles. If your clean-up includes renovation or construction waste, a Mixed Heavy Waste bin may be more appropriate.
Which bin should I use for renovation waste?
Mixed Heavy Waste is generally the appropriate category for renovation, building and construction clean-ups containing approved materials such as timber, metal, steel, concrete, bricks, tiles, household waste and heavy household items. Soil, dirt, sand and clay cannot be placed in a Mixed Heavy Waste bin. Hazardous materials, asbestos, liquids, paint, chemicals, batteries, food waste and general e-waste are also prohibited.
Can I mix household rubbish with building waste?
You may combine approved household and building materials in a Mixed Heavy Waste bin. You must not place construction or building waste in a General Waste bin. Before booking, consider every material in your load and select the category that accepts all of them rather than choosing according to the main item alone.
Can I put concrete in Mixed Heavy Waste?
Yes. Approved concrete, bricks and tiles can be placed in a Mixed Heavy Waste bin together with other accepted household or construction materials. A dedicated Concrete, Brick and Tile bin may be more suitable when the entire load consists only of those masonry materials. Soil, dirt, sand and clay cannot be mixed into either category.
Can I mix soil with concrete or bricks?
No. Clean Soil and Dirt bins must contain only clean soil or dirt, while Concrete, Brick and Tile bins must contain only concrete, bricks and tiles. Mixing these categories creates contamination and may lead to additional charges, collection problems or the need to remove the incorrect materials before pickup.
Can I put garden waste in General Waste?
Approved garden waste can be placed in a General Waste bin, but a Green Garden Waste bin may be the better choice when the load consists mainly of grass, leaves, weeds, bark, branches, tree trimmings or untreated timber. Green Waste bins must not contain household rubbish, soil, rocks, masonry, metal, synthetic turf or construction waste.
What can go in a Green Waste bin?
Our Green Garden Waste bins can accept grass clippings, leaves, weeds, bark, bark chips, tree trimmings, branches, tree trunks and untreated timber. All material must fit safely inside the bin without extending dangerously above the rim. Treated timber, soil, rocks, household rubbish, construction waste, concrete, bricks, tiles, metal, synthetic grass and other prohibited materials cannot be included.
Can I put large branches inside?
Large branches and tree trunks are accepted in Green Garden Waste bins when they fit safely inside the bin. The load must remain below the top rim, must not protrude dangerously and must be suitable for safe transport. We do not offer unlimited branch size, so please contact us before booking if you have unusually large or difficult material.
Do you accept tree stumps or bamboo?
Acceptance of tree stumps, bamboo, flax and cabbage-tree material has not been confirmed as a standard Green Waste service. Please contact us and describe the material before booking. We will confirm whether it can be accepted and which waste category or disposal arrangement may be suitable.
Can I dispose of furniture and whitegoods?
Furniture, office furniture, whitegoods and suitable household appliances can generally be placed in General Waste or Mixed Heavy Waste bins. Electrical items require care because general e-waste and computer monitors are not accepted. Televisions are accepted only when declared as paid special items, and unusual electrical appliances should be confirmed with us before booking.
Can I put a television in my bin?
A television can be accepted as a declared special item for an additional charge of $25 per television. You must tell us about it before booking and enter the correct quantity. Televisions are a specific exception to our general e-waste restriction; computer monitors and other general e-waste remain prohibited.
Do you accept computers or general e-waste?
No. General e-waste and computer monitors are not accepted in our standard skip bins. Televisions are the only confirmed electrical exception and must be declared in advance at $25 each. Please contact us before booking if you are unsure whether a particular appliance or electrical item can be accepted.
Can I put gas bottles in my bin?
Gas bottles may be accepted only when declared before booking and charged at $30 each. They must not be placed in a bin as ordinary waste without prior disclosure. Please tell us the number and type of gas bottles you have so we can review the request and confirm the correct booking arrangements.
Can I dispose of carpet in a skip bin?
Carpet is not currently confirmed as an accepted material or standard paid extra. Please contact us before booking if your clean-up includes carpet. We will review what you need to remove rather than allowing you to place an unconfirmed material in the bin.
What weight limits apply to y skip bin?
For General Waste and Mixed Heavy Waste, the confirmed weight limit is 300 kilograms for a 2m³ bin, 400 kilograms for a 3m³ bin, 600 kilograms for a 4m³ bin and 1,000 kilograms for a 6m³ bin. A separate Green Waste weight limit has not been published, so please contact us if you expect your garden load to be unusually dense or heavy.
Is there a weight limit for soil or concrete?
Our Clean Soil and Dirt and Concrete, Brick and Tile categories do not have a stated weight limit. This does not mean the bin may be overloaded. The bin must contain only the correct materials, remain below the rim, be loaded safely and be capable of being lifted and transported by our truck.
What happens if my bin is overweight?
An overweight bin may be unsafe or impossible for our truck to lift, which can prevent collection. Incorrect waste may also make the load heavier than expected. If you are disposing of dense materials or are unsure about the likely weight, please contact us before filling the bin so we can help you choose an appropriate size and category.
How high can I fill my skip bin?
All waste must remain at or below the top rim of the skip bin. Material must not be piled above the sides or left protruding dangerously because the load must be transported safely. An overfilled bin may not be collected until the excess material has been removed, and additional handling or collection issues may result.
What happens if I choose the wrong waste category?
Choosing the wrong waste category can contaminate the load and may result in additional charges, collection delays or refusal to collect the bin until the problem is corrected. We encourage you to tell us exactly what you plan to dispose of before booking. We can then help you select a category that accepts every material in the load.
What happens if prohibited waste is found?
Prohibited or undeclared waste may create safety, transport and disposal problems. It may need to be removed before collection, and incorrect waste, contamination or special items that were not declared may result in additional charges. Asbestos, hazardous waste, chemicals, paint, oils, liquids, batteries, food waste and other prohibited materials must never be placed in the bin.
Do I need a council permit?
A council permit may be required when the skip bin will be placed on a public road, nature strip or other public land. The customer is responsible for checking the relevant council requirements and arranging the permit before delivery. We do not currently provide a council permit application service.
What access does your delivery truck need?
Our truck needs clear and safe access to enter, position the bin and return for collection. Please tell us about narrow streets, low trees, low powerlines, steep driveways, tight gates, soft ground, parked vehicles or restricted turning space. Exact clearance requirements can vary according to the property and proposed placement, so early disclosure helps us assess the delivery safely.
What if my requested placement is unsafe?
If our driver determines that the requested position cannot be accessed or used safely, we will discuss a safer alternative placement with you. The final location must allow the truck to deliver and collect the bin without creating an avoidable risk to people, property, vehicles, overhead services or the surrounding area.
Can you deliver on Saturdays or Sundays?
Saturday service is available. We are closed on Sundays and do not advertise Sunday delivery or pickup. Availability can depend on our existing truck schedule, so it is best to arrange your preferred delivery and collection dates as early as possible.
Can I request urgent delivery after 11:00 am?
You can contact us about urgent skip bin delivery after 11:00 am, and we will check the current truck schedule. Same-day service may still be possible when availability allows, but it is not guaranteed after the cut-off. If same-day delivery cannot be arranged, we may schedule the bin for the following day.
What payment methods can I use?
We accept cash, bank transfer, card, EFTPOS and online payment. Where online checkout is available, your total should show the GST-inclusive base price, declared special-item charges, additional hire charges and final amount. Please follow the payment instructions provided during your booking or contact us to confirm the current payment arrangements.
Are there any possible additional charges?
Your standard price includes GST, delivery, pickup and five days of hire. Additional hire costs $10 per day, while gas bottles, mattresses, televisions and tyres are charged individually when declared. Incorrect waste, contamination, prohibited materials, unsafe loading or other booking issues may also result in additional costs or collection difficulties. We do not publish fixed charges for these situations because the amount depends on the individual load and the work required.
Can I arrange a longer hire period?
Yes. Five days are included in the standard price, and additional hire is available for $10 per day. Please let us know how long you expect to need the bin so we can include the extra days in your booking and coordinate a suitable collection date.
Can I ask for an earlier pickup?
Please contact us when your bin is ready earlier than expected. We will check the truck schedule and arrange collection according to current availability. Keep the bin accessible until pickup and make sure the load is correctly sorted, safely filled and no higher than the top rim.
Can businesses, builders and tradies hire from you?
Yes. We provide skip bin hire for residential customers, commercial customers, builders and tradies across our listed Adelaide service area. Our available categories can support household clean-ups, office clean-outs, renovations, construction work, garden projects and other suitable jobs, provided the materials comply with the selected waste rules.
Can I use a bin for an office clean-out?
Yes. A General Waste bin may suit an office clean-out containing approved items such as office furniture, light rubbish, scrap metal and suitable appliances. A Mixed Heavy Waste bin may be required if the project includes building or renovation materials. Computer monitors and general e-waste are not accepted, so these items must be kept out of the bin.
Can I use a bin for a shed clean-up?
Yes, provided every item from the shed complies with the selected waste category. A shed clean-up is a type of project rather than a waste category, so you still need to identify the actual materials involved. Paint, chemicals, oils, batteries, liquids, hazardous waste and undeclared special items cannot be placed in a General Waste bin.
How do I know whether you service my suburb?
Provide your delivery suburb and postcode when enquiring or booking, and we will confirm whether the address is within our current service area. Adelaide Skip Bin Hire PTY LTD is based in Andrews Farm and services a listed range of Adelaide metropolitan and selected outer-northern locations. Customers outside the confirmed area are welcome to contact us so we can check availability.
What information do I need to book?
To arrange skip bin hire, we need your name, phone number, email address, delivery address, suburb, postcode, requested delivery and pickup dates, selected waste category, bin size and placement instructions. You should also disclose access restrictions and enter the correct quantity of any mattresses, tyres, televisions or gas bottles before confirming the booking.
How do I book a skip bin?
Choose the waste category that accepts all your materials, select an available bin size and provide your delivery details, preferred dates and placement instructions. Declare all chargeable special items and tell us about any access restrictions or possible council permit requirements. You can then complete the available booking process or contact Adelaide Skip Bin Hire PTY LTD on 0478 178 555 or 0434 634 555 for current availability.
Where does my collected waste go?
We take collected waste to approved disposal sites appropriate for the selected waste category. Correctly separating materials helps the load be handled through the appropriate disposal process. We do not make unsupported claims about recycling percentages, zero-landfill outcomes or environmental performance.
Why should I hire Adelaide Skip Bin Hire?
We provide clear GST-inclusive pricing, multiple waste categories, four active bin sizes, delivery and pickup within the base price, and five days of standard hire. We also publish practical waste rules, confirmed weight limits and individual special-item charges so customers can make an informed booking. Based in Andrews Farm, we offer same-day delivery for eligible orders placed before 11:00 am and serve residential, commercial, builder and tradie customers throughout our listed Adelaide service area.
